Despite the adverse effects of the first lockdown on the automobile sector, which resulted in a drop in average annual sales for most automobile firms, many car brands thrived and continue to make their mark in the Indian automotive market. 1. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.
Maruti Suzuki had risen to the top of the Indian automobile industry. During the fiscal year 2021, the corporation sold over 1.46 million automobiles although due to the influence of the coronavirus, there was a reduction from the previous year. Maruti was still the owner of the top five bestselling passenger cars in the market last year.

Passenger vehicles were the second most popular vehicle segment in the country, trailing only the two-wheeler segment in terms of sales. In order to meet national and worldwide demand for vehicles, the sector has been rapidly expanding. By 2022, the sector is expected to employ about 15 million people.
2. Hyundai Motors India Ltd.
Last year, Hyundai Motor India recorded a double-digit increase in total wholesales compared to 2020. Hyundai said that total dispatches in 2021 grew by 21.6 percent to 6,35,413 units, up from 5,22,542 units in 2020.

In comparison to 2020, Hyundai Motor India claimed a double-digit growth in total wholesales in 2021. The company also anticipates that sales momentum will continue this year, owing to positive factors such as improved chip supply.
3. Tata Motors
The Tata Motors company sold over 241 thousand commercial cars in India at the end of the fiscal year 2021. Tata Motors, the country’s top commercial vehicle manufacturer, was also the most valuable corporate brand that year, with a market capitalization of roughly 21 billion dollars.

In the fiscal year 2021, Tata Motors recorded revenue of over 30 billion US dollars (around 2.5 trillion Indian rupees). Tata was rated India’s most valuable business brand in 2019.
4. Kia Motors India
Despite a COVID-affected fiscal year, Kia’s total revenue increased by 87 percent to Rs 20,290 crore last fiscal year. Last year, this amounted to 10% of the total expected passenger automobile sector income. In FY21, the company’s volume sales increased by 90% year over year to 196,000 units.

Kia India sold 16,331 vehicles in October 2021, with the Kia Seltos becoming the best-selling mid-SUV for the month, accounting for 10,488 of the total, while the Kia Sonet and Kia Carnival contributed 5,443 and 400 units, respectively.
5. Mahindra & Mahindra
Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s largest automaker, announced an 11% increase in total sales last month, with 39,157 vehicles sold compared to 35,187 units in December 2020. Last month, passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market increased by 10% to 17,722 units, up from 16,182 units the previous month.

Last month, the company’s commercial vehicles division sold 18,418 units in the domestic market, up 10% from 16,795 units in December 2020. In December 2021, exports grew by 37% to 3,017 units, up from 2,210 units the previous month.
