For quite some time Hyundai is testing a new micro SUV codenamed Hyundai AX1 in the home country. It is expected to be power by a 1.2-litre Petrol engine and will compete with Maruti Ignis and TATA HBX.
In the light of the high demand for Mid and small size SUVs. The automakers are also focusing more on the design and development of new-age SUVs. Indeed, In the next few months, buyers can see a number of new SUVs in the domestic market.
A few days back new TATA HBX micro SUV is spied testing on the Indian roads. Earlier it was showcased at the auto expo 2020 and is expected to launch around the festive season. Following the trend, The Korean automaker Hyundai is spied testing Hyundai AX1 a new micro SUV in the home country Korea.
About Hyundai AX1
Hyundai AX1 is a micro SUV that is currently under testing It is likely to be powered by a 1.2-Liter petrol engine. It is the same engine that comes in the new Hyundai i10 NIOS and Hyundai i20 models. Additionally, the AX1 is taking most of its design clues from its sibling Hyundai Venue.
At the front, the car is getting split headlamps that have LED daytime running lights fixed above them. Also, the front grille design looks similar to the grill which is coming in Venue. Next, the cabin appears truly inspired by i10 NIOS and 3rd generation i20. Further, the top model of this car will also offer dual-tone machine cut alloy wheels.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine is expected to generate 83PS power and 115Nm torque. In terms of transmission, it is expected to come equipped with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. Other expected features include a semi-digital instrument cluster, A infotainment system supporting Android auto and apple car play.
At the safety front it will offer dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, over speed alert and seat belt reminder.
Price and launch
To conclude, The Hyundai HX1 is likely to be priced between 4 Lacs to 7 lacs, It launching in Maruti Ignis and TATA HBX segment. At the present time, the micro SUV is under testing it is expected to launch internationally by the end of this year and in India only by next year.
