The next Tata Altroz automatic is rumored to be equipped with a 7-speed DCT transmission and will compete with the Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI and Hyundai i20 Turbo.
The Tata Altroz has been positively received by those wishing to purchase a luxury hatchback. However, the lack of an automatic transmission has prompted many potential purchasers to hunt for alternatives such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Volkswagen Polo, among others. According to a new source, Tata has stated on Twitter that an automatic transmission for Altroz will be available soon.
Tata Altroz AMT : Launch Date
Unfortunately, the firm has not specified when the Altroz AT hatchback would be available in the country. Thankfully, this does not prevent claims and rumors; new media reports have lately surfaced saying that the Tata Altroz AT will be launched in India within three to four months in 2022. The Tata Altroz, with a launch date of January 2020, is presently available with two petrol engines and a diesel engine, all of which are exclusively available with a manual transmission.
Available Gearbox Options
According to what we know about the development of this next Tata automobile in India in 2022, the automaker will only provide an automatic transmission option with the petrol model, not the Tata Altroz diesel variant.
In the Altroz, Tata Motors will feature a dual-clutch automatic transmission. This transmission will be a seven-speed device that will be available in the next three to four months. The turbo engine option of the Altroz will come with Tata’s DCT transmission.
A 1.2-liter normally aspirated engine and a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine are available in the Tata Altroz. The turbocharged engine produces 108 horsepower and 140 Nm, while the non-turbocharged engine produces 85 bhp and 113 Nm. Both of these engines are available with a five-speed manual transmission.
There will be no additional alterations to Altroz’s features other than the addition of a DCT transmission. The Tata Altroz has a 5-star safety rating for adult occupants, as you may recall. Altroz is India’s safest premium hatchback, according to the results of the Global NCAP crash test.
Price and Rivals:
When compared to the comparable Altroz turbo petrol manual variant, this DCT gearbox type of Altroz is estimated to cost up to Rs 1 lakh more. The DCT automatic Altroz will be around 20 kilograms heavier than the manual Altroz. Altroz automatic test mules have been spotted around the company’s Pune plant on a regular basis.
Tata Altroz DCT will compete with Hyundai i20 turbo and Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI when it debuts. Tata Motors plans to produce a CNG option of the Altroz in addition to the automatic version. It could be available starting with the mid-spec XT model and cost Rs 30-50k more than the ordinary petrol manual variations. The Tata Altroz Electric is also ready for its launch.
