The Suzuki Maruti Jimny is a four-wheel-drive off-road mini SUV that Suzuki has produced and sold since April 1970. It is currently in its fourth generation.
The fourth-generation Suzuki Maruti Jimny is scheduled to arrive in India earlier than expected. The carmakers are also working on a five-door, extended wheelbase version. It will soon be launched after the launch of a three-door version of Maruti Jimny in the Indian markets.
Maruti Jimny Features :
Even in its extended wheelbase version, the Maruti Jimny is likely to keep its 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case. It will have the same 1.5-liter petrol engine as the 3-door model. It produces 102 horsepower and 130 pound-feet of torque when mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Also available with a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. Maruti might provide me with a vehicle. Maruti could offer it in a 2WD-only variant as well to make it more affordable to those simply looking for a cool family car and not a rugged off-roader.
Although the extended Jimny is still in production, the 5-door model may take a while to reach the market. Meanwhile, Maruti has manufactured the 3-door Jimny for export in India. Following the overwhelming demand for the second-generation Mahindra Thar, Maruti may decide to launch the 5-door model in early 2022.
Maruti Jimny Price:
The Maruti Jimny is expected to start at Rs 10 lakh and be distributed via Maruti’s Nexa showroom network. It will compete with the Thar and the Force Gurkha, as well as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Renault Duster, among others.
Jimny 5-door version :
Maruti is preparing to introduce the five-door Jimny in India soon, following the success of the second-generation Mahindra Thar. While the global model has three doors, the Indian model would have five doors, making it more practical as a family SUV. Now, a leaked document reveals some technical details, including the dimensions and engine specifications, of the upcoming five-door Jimny.
Jimny 5-door version : Features
The five-door Maruti Jimny will be 300mm longer than the global-spec three-door Jimny, with the same height, width, and ground clearance. According to reports, the stretched dimensions would only add 100kg to the kerb weight. Although the Jimny is narrower than the Vitara Brezza and Thar, the five-door variant has a longer wheelbase than both of them.
The five-door Jimny will be powered by the same 1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 102 horsepower and 130 Nm. A 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter AT will be available as transmission options. The engine also drives the Ertiga, Ciaz, and Brezza in the company’s Indian lineup. The Jimny will get a 4×4 drivetrain for enthusiasts with front-wheel drive.
A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, Android Auto and Apple Carplay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, cruise control, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors with a camera, and hill assist control could all be included in the India-spec model (for the AT variants). It will be more practical as a family car as a five-door variant, with more available rear seats that are directly accessible and give more room.
