Force Motors, like its main rival, the new Mahindra Thar, has pushed to make the newly launched Force Gurkha a more lifestyle-oriented vehicle than its more bare-bones predecessor. Here we have compared the two on the basis of their mileage, features, and other specifications for you to choose which one is the best.
Mahindra Thar vs Force Gurkha: Interior
The new Thar has cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, halogen headlamps with LED DRLs, electrically operated AC, steering-mounted controls, and a digital MID in the instrument cluster. The second-generation model also has a washable interior and removable roof panels.
On the other hand, Force Motors attempted to add more equipment to the Gurkha in order to make it more appealing. The aforementioned touchscreen is one such piece of equipment, and it includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as Bluetooth phone calls. Other amenities include tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, individual armrests for the rear seats, USB charging sockets for all four occupants, power windows, central locking, air conditioning, LED headlamps with DRLs, fog lamps, and cornering lamps.
Mahindra Thar vs Force Gurkha: Exterior
The 2021 Mahindra Thar was specially modified by DC2 and named HULK. The SUV’s exterior has undergone numerous changes. The exterior appears to be one-of-a-kind, strange, or dull, depending on your perspective. The SUV has a new grille design, as well as aftermarket three-pod headlights with integrated LED DRLs.
The design of the new Gurkha is similar to the previous model, but the entire body shell is new. A new grille, bumpers, light clusters, larger windows for rear passengers – dubbed “panoramic windows” by the company – and a larger rear windshield aid rear visibility. The snorkel, for example, comes standard from the factory. The cabin, on the other hand, receives more noticeable changes, including a new dashboard, touchscreen infotainment system, and front-facing second-row captain seats.
Mahindra Thar vs Force Gurkha: Engine
The new Mahindra Thar is powered by a new 2-liter turbocharged engine (150PS/up to 320Nm) and a 2.2-liter engine (130PS/300Nm). Both come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. Both powertrains come standard with a 4×4 drivetrain.
Moving on to the more mechanical aspects of the Gurkha, it appears that many mechanicals were carried over from its predecessor. While the chassis is completely new to ensure that the Gurkha meets the most recent safety regulations, the company has upgraded the old 2.6-liter diesel to meet BS6 standards. The engine produces 91 horsepower and 250 Newton-meters of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The former Gurkha Xtreme’s 140hp 2.2-liter diesel engine has been discontinued. The Gurkha, as before, has four-wheel drive with low range and manual locking front and rear differentials.
Mahindra Thar vs Force Gurkha: Safety Features
The Mahindra Thar comes standard with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a front seatbelt reminder.
The Gurkha, on the other hand, is up to date with dual airbags, ABS, rear parking system. And even a tire pressure monitoring system.
Mahindra Thar vs Force Gurkha: Price
Mahindra has priced the Thar between Rs 12.78 lakh and Rs 15.08 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). While the Force Gurkha is Priced at Rs 13.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
