All new Mahindra THAR is expected to launch in few months, after so many years finally Mahindra is bringing cosmetic and mechanical changes in it, multiple times following off roader is seen going through testing at different roads across India, earlier It was speculated that Mahindra will introduce the new-gen Thar lifestyle SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo;

The upcoming Thar will be equipped with all-new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine and petrol engine, which will also power the next-gen Scorpio and the XUV500. It is rumored to produce around 140bhp of power and over 300Nm of torque. Interesting thing in this is it shall also come with petrol engine At the Auto Expo 2020, Mahindra displayed its new mStallion petrol engine line-up with displacements of 1.2L, 1.5L and 2.0L. It is expected that the new Mahindra Thar 2020 will receive the 2.0L 4-cylinder, mStallion petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Bigger and Bolder size:
The Mahindra Thar 2020 will retain the rugged and popular design of its predecessor However; the new model will be bigger in size and will have modern design elements. The spy images reveals that the new Thar will have the trademark Mahindra seven-slat grille, round headlamps, flared wheel arches, new LED tail lamps, a factory-fitted hard-top variant and five-spoke alloy wheels.
The new Thar will come with all-new interior with modern-day features. It will have a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car play support, automatic climate control and multi-functional steering wheel. Adding to it, the SUV will get multi-info display, remote locking and front power windows. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminder, central locking and speed alert will come as standard.
Top Five changes in Upcoming MAHINDRA THAR BS6:
The 2020 Mahindra Thar will underpin the thoroughly updated GEN2 ladder-frame platform that will meet the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP). The same architecture will be used for the new-generation Mahindra Scorpio and XUV500. The new platform will reduce the wheel-articulation by around 10%.
BIGGER AND SAFER
Compared to the existing model, the 2020 Mahindra will carry bigger dimensions. That means, the SUV will have more cabin space to offer. It will have better structure integrity, thanks to its new platform. All models of upcoming Mahindra THAR shall come equipped with ABS, EBD, Dual Air Bag, Back Parking sensors etc.
Official engine details of the 2020 Mahindra Thar are yet to be revealed. Though, it’s likely to get a new 2.0L diesel engine that will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. It will deliver power close to 140bhp, thus making it around 35bhp more powerful than the existing 2.5L CRDe oil burner.
Rumour also has it that the new 2020 Mahindra Thar will receive a 2.0L petrol engine for the first time. The new gasoline motor could be borrowed from the Mahindra XUV500 and deliver power worth 140bhp with 320Nm of torque. The new petrol unit will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
TWO SEATS LAYOUTS
the 2020 Mahindra Thar will be offered with 5-seats and 6-seats configurations. The SUV will get the factory-fitted hardtop along with the bucket seats up front and front facing rear seats. The all-black interior theme with features such as a new instrument console with a large MID in center, newly designed dashboard, and steering wheel with mounted controls will add a premium touch to its interior.
The 2020 Thar will be better equipped as well. From what we have seen from the earlier spy shots, it will get a factory-fitted hardtop along with features such as cruise control, a touchscreen infotainment system, rear front-facing seats, and power windows. Also on offer will be disc brakes on all four wheels, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, parking camera, rear parking sensors, front seatbelt reminder, and a high-speed alert system.
