Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV, India Launch Updates

Hyundai will bring the Ioniq 5 EV to India this year, according to ACI. The particular date or month has yet to be determined.

About Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Ioniq 5 is a one-of-a-kind electric vehicle. This is due to the fact that, unlike many other electric cars, the Ioniq 5 is not built on a vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine. It was built from the ground up using the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) platform. This platform was created exclusively for electric vehicles, and the Ioniq 5 was the first vehicle to be built on it.

There are a number of benefits to building an electric vehicle on a specific EV platform. The wheels on the Ioniq 5 are on the corners. This allows for a longer wheelbase, which frees up additional cabin space. Furthermore, because it is an EV platform, there is no hump in the middle for the exhaust and driveshaft, as there is on ICE-powered vehicles. Electric vehicles lack both of these features. As a result, the floor is perfectly flat. It translates to better legroom and shoulder space. It goes without saying that the Ioniq 5 has plenty of room for its passengers. The dashboard is fairly small.

Distinct Configuration and Available Battery Pack

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available in two different variants. There are two types of drive: rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. A single motor powers a rear-wheel-drive system. As a result, it produces a maximum power of 169 bhp and a peak torque of 350 Nm. A dual-motor arrangement is included in the all-wheel-drive version. It has electric motors on each axle, producing a total of 306 horsepower and 605 Nm of peak torque.

There are two different battery packs available. A 58 kWh and a 72.6 kWh are available. The 58 kWh battery has a range of 385 kilometers, while the 72.6 kWh battery has a range of 481 kilometers. If you can find a 350 kW fast charger, you can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: Price

In India, it is projected to cost between Rs. 45 lakhs and Rs. 60 lakhs. Because it will be delivered as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), the price will be higher.

The other EVs in line by Hyundai this year

The company has announced that it will send six electric vehicles to India. Some of the new cars will be based on the existing ICE platform, while others will be based on the E-GMP platform. E-GMP-based vehicles will take some time to become competitive in the market. Furthermore, it can take a variety of battery sizes.

Hyundai would invest Rs. 4,000 crores in the new vehicles’ development. They’ll also be working in India to improve the charging infrastructure. Customers will be provided with a home charging station, as well as public chargers put up by Hyundai and chargers available at Hyundai shops. For added peace of mind, the manufacturer will provide 24-hour roadside support.
