Indian Motorcycles has announced its arrival in the Indian market of the redesigned Chief series. The new Chief Dark Horse is part of the line. The most recent version of the motorbike has a steel-tube frame and is powered by an Indian Motorcycle Thunderstroke engine.
Indian Chief Dark Horse : Engine and Wheelbase
The BS6-compliant 1,890cc twin-cylinder, air-cooled engine produces 162Nm of peak torque at 3,200rpm when connected to a six-speed gearbox. The new model’s motor also has a rear cylinder deactivation feature.
The bike’s extremely long 1626 mm wheelbase, together with the fat tire combo of 130/60B19 (front) and 180/65 B16 (rear), provide a very stable ride. It also holds the lines well, even though it isn’t the lightest machine to manage around a corner; in fact, it holds the lines so well that you’ll find yourself scraping footpegs frequently. Despite its weight, diving in and out of a turn is simple, and the sticky Pirelli Night Dragon rubber aids in the essential grip when you gas it out of a corner.
Indian Chief Dark Horse : Design
The new Chief Dark Horse has a plain appearance, but in person, it appears to be quite large and muscular, and just seeing the Chief Dark Horse makes an impression. The use of simple yet authoritative elements like the solitary seat, machined wheels, mid-controls, and low-slung handlebar identify the Chief Dark Horse. It has a distinct look thanks to its chopped Bobber style, which includes a single seat and broad machine cast alloy wheels.
The front headlamp features complete LED lighting on the interior, as well as cleverly carved lighting parts that seem very premium. But that’s not all; the degree of detailing on the bike is absolutely incredible. Every part of the frame has a curvature or flow to it, and the firm has done a fantastic job with the welding.
The chopped-off rear fender, combined with the twin-pipe blacked-out exhaust, just adds to the intrigue. Additionally, the tail lamps and indicators are combined into a single unit, which is rather beautiful.
The redesigned thin headlight bucket and the lack of front fork sleeves give the Indian Chief Dark Horse a fresh, sleek, and blacked-out look for 2022. It also comes with 19/17-inch alloy wheels. Black Smoke, Alumina Jade Smoke, and Stealth Gray are the three color possibilities. Everything comes together to give a fairly soft and comfortable riding stance on the bike, with mid-set footpegs, a spacious and comfortable seat, and a broad handlebar.
Pricing and Rivals
The Chief Dark Horse is a shining example of fine craftsmanship that embodies the brand’s values. It may be a bit pricey for some, starting at 20.86 lakh (ex-showroom), but the authority, luxury, and pride you’d get from riding this motorcycle would be an incomparable experience that few could equal.
The Indian Chief Dark Horse competes with the BMW R 18, while the Triumph Rocket 3 is a viable alternative.
